Morning Shower

Responding to the unique conditions of the corridor between the F and 7 lines at 42nd Street during the morning rush hour, I created an unscripted passage of sound in which participants chanted vowel tones, each in their own way. There was no score.

I was captivated by the acoustics of the space and the steady flow of commuters heading to work. My aim was to activate the movement inherent in the site. The vowels echoed through the corridor, reshaping the mundane into a space of shifting, heightened perception.              Photography: On White Wall
